Do you have an Amazon FireStick or Fire TV and you’re a Spectrum user? If that’s the case, you’ve probably spent a lot of time trying to get the Spectrum app to work on your FireStick.
You may have even read one or two online guides promising to show you how to download and install the Spectrum app.
These tips and tricks even didn’t work, right?
The Spectrum app offers over 50,000 on-demand movies and TV series, as well as about 250 live TV channels.
The only problem is that the Spectrum TV app isn’t compatible with Amazon devices. You can sideload it, just like SkyTV Go, but the app will identify that it’s running on an unsupported device and display an error message like this.
So, what actually the Spectrum app is and which devices will it support?
We’ll answer both of those questions in this article. We’ll also show you how to sideload the Spectrum TV app on your FireStick in case they decide to upgrade it to work with the FireStick in the future. Finally, We’ll provide a quick overview of the app.
So without any further delay, let’s drive into this straight away!
Spectrum App Compatible Devices
At the time of its release, the Spectrum app was only compatible with Roku boxes (except the first model). Currently, it is available on a variety of devices, and apart from the FireStick, there are native applications for:
- iPads.
- iPhones.
- Android devices (which will allow you to cast to a TV with Chromecast)
- Amazon Kindle Fire tablets.
- Xbox One.
- Roku.
- Samsung Smart TVs (2012 and newer models)
- Most streaming players and tablets.

According to their official support website, no Amazon Fire TV OS devices are currently compatible with the Spectrum TV app.
How to Get the Spectrum TV App on FireStick [ApkMirror Method]
In this section, we’ll show you how to sideload the Spectrum TV app on a FireStick or Fire TV device. As we mentioned previously, this method will install the application, but when you try to use it, you will receive the “device not supported” error message. Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this.
To get started, simply follow the steps outlined below:
Step 1: Navigate to the Firestick’s Home screen and go to the Find tab.
Step 2: Choose the Search icon.
Step 3: Then type “Downloader” into the search box and select it from the appeared results.
Step 4: Select the Downloader icon.
Step 5: Click Download and wait for the app to be installed.
Step 6: Wait when the app is downloading.
Step 7: To launch the Downloader app, click on Open.
We use the Downloader app for downloading and sideloading APK files on our FireSticks and other Android TV devices. If you’re not familiar with the Downloader app, you can learn more about it by reading this tutorial.
Step 8: When the Downloader app starts, choose Allow.
Step 9: A notification will show up; choose OK.
Step 10: The Home tab will open by default with a URL/Search box on the right side of the screen.
Step 11: Type “spectrum apkmirror” into the URL/Search box and press GO.
The Downloader app’s built-in web browser is one of its most useful features. When you click Go, it will either direct you to a web page or bring up Google search results.
Step 12: In this instance, it is searching for the Spectrum TV app listing on APKMirror, a popular site for downloading APK files.
Step 13: Find the Spectrum TV APKs link on APKMirror.com (usually the top result) and click on it to continue.
Step 14: This link will take you directly to the app’s page on APKMirror.com. Scroll down until a list of the most recent APK files appears.
APKMirror typically offers different versions of every APK file for download. In most cases, you should install the most recent version, but sometimes an older version will be more compatible with your device.
Step 15: To continue, click the download icon on the right-hand side of the screen.
Step 16: This starts the downloading process. The Downloader app will start the installation process as soon as the apk file is downloaded.
Step 17: When done, click on the Install button.
Step 18: Within a few seconds, the Spectrum TV application will be installed on your FireStick, and you’ll receive a notification that the app is ready to launch.
You may either start it directly from the notification box or through the Apps and Channels List in the main menu of your FireStick.
However, because we sideloaded it, the Spectrum TV app icon does not appear. Because we had a number of sideloaded apps on this FireStick, we had to guess which blank icon was the correct one.
Step 19: Click to open the app.
Unfortunately, whether you start the Spectrum TV app from your Apps and Channels list or directly from the notification message box, you will immediately see the “device unsupported” warning message.
How to Install the Spectrum TV App on FireStick [Direct Download Link Method]
If you are kind of overwhelmed at this point and don’t want to stick around with downloading the Spectrum Apk from ApkMirror, Don’t worry! In this section, we’ll tell you how to direct download the Spectrum app step by step on your Firestick device. The workaround is pretty much similar to the above, but instead of downloading the apk file from the ApkMirror website, we’ll use a direct download link for it.
So, without any further delay follow the steps we mentioned below:
Step 1: Hold down the Home button on your Firestick’s remote for approximately 5 seconds until the following screen shows. Then, select Apps.
Step 2: Open the Downloader app from the Apps and Channels list.
Step 3: The Home tab will appear by default with a URL/Search box on the right side of the screen.
Step 4: Enter the following URL “bit.ly/spectrum-fireos” in the URL/Search box and click GO.
Step 5: The downloading process will start immediately.
Step 6: When the download is complete, click Install.
Step 7: Within moments, the Spectrum TV app will be installed on your FireStick, and you get a notification saying it’s ready to launch.
Step 8: Click on it to launch the app.
Step 9: Unfortunately, the “device unsupported” error notice will appear as soon as you open it.
Spectrum App Overview
The Spectrum app allows you to watch live or on-demand content from your television or mobile device. If you have a Spectrum subscription, the TV app will provide you with the best entertainment value for money.
However, there are three Spectrum apps, each with a unique function. The Spectrum mobile app allows users to manage their account information.
My Spectrum app is available for accessing your wireless network, paying payments, and troubleshooting.
The third app, the Spectrum TV app, is of particular significance here. It includes several features to improve your viewing experience, including:
Live TV and On-Demand Content
The main feature of this app is that it allows you to view live news and sports on local networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and ESPN. When you login in, you can select a default channel that will be shown on the home screen.
A TV guide appears on the screen to help you navigate between the channels, as well as helpful instructions for new users.
If live TV bores you, there is an on-demand library where you can catch up on the newest TV episodes and movies.
DVR Support
The Spectrum app offers a DVR option that allows you to pause, rewind, or fast-forward live TV in addition to providing access to several live channels. It’s a useful tool that allows you to record content while you’re away and watch it later.
Channel Tags
You can tag your favorite channels, which will add them to your favorites list. You won’t have to navigate through the roughly 250 channels to find your preferred choices if you do it this way.
Channel Search
To make it easier to find your favorite show, Spectrum included a channel search option. You can search by channel number, but you can also search by category or network.
If that isn’t enough to help you find something to watch on TV when you aren’t sure what’s on, you can also search by title, sports team, or actor.
Parental Controls
Some content may be inappropriate for your children, and you will need to keep them away from it. The Spectrum app has parental controls, which are a set of controls that allow you to manage what your child can watch. You can ban content that is highly violent, graphic, racially, sexually, or religiously discriminatory.
